Description

A round outdoor bulkhead in the Daru range, this one sets an opal white diffuser inside a plain anthracite frame that splits the face into neat segments. It measures 27cm across and sits close to the wall, with a shallow projection that keeps it clear of shoulders and doorways. The lampholder is E27, taking up to 40W, and we would put an LED candle in it for a soft, even glow through the opal.

It earns its keep by a back door, a porch, along a side passage or on a garage wall, wherever you want steady light rather than a beam. Sealed against dust and splashing water, it is happy in an exposed position as well as under a canopy. There is no switch on the body, so it works from an indoor switch or whatever control you already have on the circuit, and it will dim if the lamp and dimmer suit each other. It suits anyone after quiet, low-cost outdoor lighting that does not draw the eye in daylight.

The frame carries an anthracite finish that sits well against brick, render and dark cladding, and the opal white diffuser hides the lamp from view. Keep it looking right by wiping the diffuser and frame down each season with a damp cloth and mild soap once the power is off and the fitting is cool; cobwebs and leaf dust are the usual culprits. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same framed face in sand white, and the range also runs to plain and eyelid fronts in both finishes if you are fitting several around a house. Lamps are not included.
