Dakota 4 Light Flush Ceiling Light - Black & White

The Dakota is a 570mm flush ceiling light with a circular black acrylic upper band, an opal white acrylic diffuser below, and a polished chrome trim ring separating the two finishes. Four E27 bulb fittings sit inside the diffuser, concealed by the opal acrylic which distributes the light evenly across the 175mm-deep body. The flush-mount design positions the light directly against the ceiling with minimal projection, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m where a pendant would hang too low.

Designed for hallways, bedrooms, living rooms and open-plan spaces needing overhead ambient light, the Dakota provides general room illumination rather than task or accent lighting. The contrast between the black upper band and the white diffuser gives the fitting a defined geometric appearance when viewed from below, while the polished chrome trim softens the transition between the two acrylic sections. The 570mm diameter covers a footprint similar to a medium-sized pendant, but without the drop.

The opal white acrylic diffuser prevents direct view of the bulbs, reducing glare and creating an even spread of light across ceilings and walls. The black acrylic upper section is opaque, concentrating all light output downwards and outwards rather than upwards onto the ceiling. At 6.5kg the fitting requires secure ceiling fixings — the weight comes from the acrylic body and the steel mounting plate inside the canopy. The polished chrome finish on the trim ring reflects room light during the day, adding a metallic accent that pairs with chrome door furniture, radiators and picture frames.

What bulbs does it take?

The Dakota takes four E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, each up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users choose LED bulbs between 6-10W in 2700K-3000K warm white for ambient room lighting. Four 8W LEDs typically provide enough light for a 15-18m² room.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The flush-mount design sits directly against the ceiling with only 175mm projection, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m where pendant lights would hang too low or feel oppressive.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, if paired with dimmable bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch. The fixture itself has no built-in dimming — dimming depends on the bulbs chosen and the wall switch or control system.

How is the acrylic cleaned?

Wipe the acrylic surfaces with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. For stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with plain water is acceptable. Avoid sprays, polishes or solvents which can cloud or scratch acrylic.
