Description

This is a rim only piece: a clear crystal rectangle with two lamp positions set along its length, made to drop into a recessed opening and finish it with something better than a plain trim. The crystal is clear right through, so the light picks up its edges and throws a little sparkle onto the ceiling around each head. Being non-electric, it carries no lampholder of its own; the lampholders and retaining rings come from the matching component kits, and this rim takes two of them to complete.

Twin heads in one narrow rim suit places where a pair of separate round downlights would look fussy: over a run of kitchen worktop, above a basin in a cloakroom, along a hallway ceiling, or picking out a dressing area. We like it where the ceiling is already busy with detail and a low, slim rectangle keeps things calm. Dimming is possible provided the lamps you fit are dimmable ones, so choose those if the room needs to drop to a softer level in the evening. Keep it to rooms that stay dry, as it offers no protection against splashing.

The rim itself is crystal with a clear finish and stands only a few millimetres proud, sitting close to the ceiling line at roughly 175mm long. For cleaning, switch the circuit off and let everything cool first, then take dust off with a soft brush and lift fingermarks with a barely damp cloth, buffing dry so the crystal does not dull. Avoid sprays and anything abrasive. It carries a one year warranty. The lampholder and retaining ring kits are stocked in satin black, aged brass and polished chrome, and the wider range runs to round and square crystal rims if you want to mix shapes across a ceiling. Lamps are not included.
