Crystal Round Downlight Rim - Clear

Square-cut crystals sit shoulder to shoulder around the perimeter of this small round rim, picking up the light from the lamp behind them and scattering it back in fine points. The crystal is clear and the metal polished chrome, so the whole ring reads as one bright piece rather than a border drawn around a hole in the ceiling. It measures 100mm across the face, stands just 20mm deep and drops into a 62mm cut-out. What you have here is the decorative rim on its own, and we sell the matching lampholder and retaining ring kit alongside it, which is what turns the rim into a working light.

We reach for these where a plain white downlight would look blunt: a dressing room, a short hallway run, the ceiling above a bar, or over glass shelving where the sparkle has something to bounce off. A row of them gives a hall far more interest than the same row in painted steel, and a single one over a basin or a console does quiet work on its own. Fit a dimmable lamp and it will dim, which suits bedrooms and anywhere you want the crystal glinting at low level in the evening. Keep it to dry, heated rooms indoors, away from steam and splashing.

The crystals are cut and polished glass, held in a chrome-finished rim that stays slim against the ceiling line. Dust settles on cut glass more than on a flat trim, so give the crystals a flick with a soft dry brush now and then and lift fingermarks with a barely damp cloth once the lamp is cold, never a spray cleaner. It carries a one year warranty. What size hole does this rim need?

A 62mm cut-out. The visible face is 100mm in diameter, so it covers a reasonable margin around the aperture, and the rim itself is only 20mm deep.

Does it come with a lampholder?

No. This is the crystal rim only. It needs the downlight component kit of lampholders and retaining ring, which we stock in polished chrome, satin black and aged brass.

Is a lamp included?

No, the lamp is supplied separately so you can choose the output and colour temperature that suits the room.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided a dimmable lamp is fitted and paired with a compatible dimmer. Neither the lamp nor the dimmer comes with the rim.

What are the crystals made from?

Cut and polished clear crystal glass, square-cut and set around the outer edge of the round rim.

Will it suit a bathroom?

It is intended for dry indoor rooms, so we would keep it out of shower zones and away from steam.
