Description

A recessed rim cut from black crystal, with a concave corner profile that catches light along its inner curve. It comes as the rim alone, sized for a 62mm cut-out, and pairs with a lampholder and retaining ring kit to make a working light. We stock those kits alongside it, so the metalwork can be matched to the rest of the room rather than taken as given.

It suits rooms where recessed lighting should read as more than a plain trim: a dressing area, a bedroom, a snug, the landing above a stair. Black crystal keeps its colour when the lamp is off, so a run of them looks deliberate by day as well as lit at night. Keep them to dry rooms indoors, on the household supply; a hallway or a sitting room is right for them, a shower enclosure is not. Dimming is possible, though it depends on the lamp behind the rim being a dimmable one and on a suitable dimmer.

The crystal is Diyas Select, faceted and polished, held in a shallow rim measuring 90mm across and 10mm deep. Keep the facets bright with an occasional pass of a dry lint-free cloth, and leave polishes and solvents well away from the crystal. It carries a one year warranty. Elsewhere in the range there are bubble rims in clear and green, chamfered rims round and square, and cluster rims in polished chrome or French gold, and the component kits come in satin black, aged brass and polished chrome. This black version is the one we would choose where a plain white trim would simply disappear into the ceiling. A lamp is not included.
