Description

A square of clear crystal with a chamfered edge, cut so the border catches light and scatters a little of it around the beam. This is the rim on its own, non-electrical, and it pairs with the IL30800 lampholder and retaining ring kit to make a working downlight. The crystal is Diyas Select, clear throughout with no colour lining, and the face measures 90mm across, with the rim standing only slightly proud.

We reach for rims like this where a plain white bezel would look blunt: a hallway ceiling, a landing, a dressing room, or a run of small bright points down a corridor. The 62mm cut-out is the aperture most downlight ranges already use, so it works alongside kit you may well have specified elsewhere. Dimming is possible provided the lamp chosen is a dimmable one, which is worth settling early if the room wants a low evening level. It suits anyone after sparkle in small doses rather than a chandelier.

Crystal and a clear finish are the whole of it, so keeping it right is a question of dust and fingerprints: once the lamp has cooled, wipe with a dry lint-free cloth and leave sprays and solvents alone, as they dull cut edges. Keep it to dry interior rooms, away from steam and splashes. It carries a one year warranty. The chamfered rim is also offered round, and the same cut-out is served by bubble and cluster crystal rims if you want more texture; we stock the component kits in satin black, aged brass, polished chrome and French gold, so the metalwork can follow the rest of the room.
