Description

A clear crystal bezel for a standard 62mm downlight aperture, chamfered around the outer edge so it breaks light into fine facets instead of sitting flat and quiet. The crystal is Diyas Select, clear right through, which means it takes its tone from whatever lamp sits behind it: warm and honeyed with one lamp, cooler and sharper with another. The disc measures 95mm across and the profile is very shallow, so it reads as part of the ceiling line rather than something stuck onto it.

We reach for these where plain white bezels look a little bare: a hallway, a dressing room, or the run of lights over a dining table. Several in a line give sparkle at ceiling level without anything hanging down into the room, which helps in low rooms and in spaces where a pendant would only be in the way. It belongs in dry interior rooms, well away from showers and open porches. This is the crystal rim on its own, so it pairs with the matching lampholder and retaining ring kit, and dimming is possible where dimmable lamps are used.

Cut crystal with a polished clear finish, light in the hand and simple in form, with the chamfer doing all the decorative work. Dust gathers on faceted glass more readily than on a plain trim, so a soft brush or a dry lint-free cloth every so often keeps the cut looking bright; for fingerprints, a barely damp cloth followed by a dry buff is enough, with the power off and the lamp cold first. Solvents and abrasive creams dull the surface and should be kept away from it. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same chamfered profile as a square rim and in a spectrum finish, along with bubble and cluster crystal rims, and the component kits come in satin black, aged brass, polished chrome and French gold. Lamps are not included.
