Clear crystal cut with a bubbled, blistered face, this is the round rim that gives a recessed downlight something worth looking at. It measures 95mm across and stands only 20mm deep, so what you see in the ceiling is a small pool of light-catching detail rather than an obvious fitting. The crystal is clear the whole way through, with no plating or paint on show, and the bubbled cut scatters the beam into flickers as you move beneath it. It is a rim on its own: the lampholder and retaining ring kit is ordered separately, and we stock those in four metal finishes.

Dry, settled rooms are where it belongs, so we would use it in a hall, a sitting room, a bedroom, or in a short run over a dining table where the sparkle has a job to do. It suits anyone who wants recessed lighting to read more like jewellery than hardware, and it works best in small numbers rather than gridded across a whole ceiling. Dimming is possible if you pair it with dimmable lamps and a dimmer, neither of which comes with the rim.

Because the piece is crystal rather than a coated metal bezel, there is no lacquer to dull or flake with time. Dust does gather in the hollows of the bubble cut, so a soft dry brush is the quickest way to keep it bright, with an occasional wipe from a barely damp cloth once the power is off and everything has gone cold. Within the same range we also offer a square rim in this clear crystal, a round rim in green, and chamfered round and square rims if you prefer a cleaner edge, all sharing the same cut-out. It carries a one year warranty. The lamp is not supplied.
