Description

The Crasena is a slim wall light with a curved panel of white satin glass, held on its steel body by two small satin nickel knobs. It measures 18cm across and 25cm high, and stands 7.5cm out from the wall, so it keeps out of the way in a narrow hallway or on a landing. It takes a single E14 bulb of up to 60W, which is not included, so you choose the colour and warmth of the light yourself. With an IP20 rating it is made for dry rooms indoors, which settles where it belongs: living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and stairs rather than the bathroom or the garden.

The satin glass softens the bulb into an even glow, and because the panel curves round the light and is open at the top and the bottom, it sends a gentle wash up and down the wall as well as through the glass. That makes it a good choice beside a sofa or a bed, where you want a calm light that is easy on the eyes in the evening. A pair either side of a hallway mirror or a doorway gives a balanced, symmetrical look. The white glass and satin nickel are neutral enough to sit with grey, white or warm painted walls, and with modern or traditional furniture alike.

There is no switch on the fitting itself; it is switched at the wall, so it works from the light switch you already have. Because it is a wired mains light, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. It runs on a 220-240V, 50/60Hz supply and weighs 0.822KG packed. For care, once the light is switched off and the bulb has cooled, wipe the glass with a soft, dry cloth. Our practical tip: a frosted E14 bulb keeps the glow smooth behind the satin glass.
