Copenhagen Outdoor Wall Lantern - Black

The Copenhagen is an outdoor wall lantern built from 304-grade stainless steel with a black powder-coated finish, a clear glass dome and a tiered metal shade that directs light both downward and horizontally. The fitting accepts a single E27 bulb (sold separately) and mounts on a short arm fixed to a circular wall backplate. The tiered shade creates alternating bands of light and shadow across walls and pathways when lit.

Designed for coastal and exposed locations where salt air and high winds demand corrosion-resistant materials, the Copenhagen carries an IP44 rating against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction. The 304-grade stainless steel frame resists rust and salt corrosion better than standard mild steel or aluminium fittings, making it suitable for seaside properties, harbour walls and hillside installations where weather conditions are harsh. The powder-coated black finish bonds to the stainless steel substrate, providing additional UV and salt resistance while maintaining a low-sheen appearance that does not reflect headlights or security lighting.

The clear glass dome is seeded with small bubbles and surface texture, visible when the light is off and more pronounced when the bulb is lit. This diffuses the E27 bulb filament or LED source without blocking light output, giving the fitting a softer appearance than a plain clear dome while still providing good pathway and porch illumination. The tiered metal shade extends approximately 200mm from the wall, creating enough projection to light vertical wall surfaces and overhanging eaves as well as the ground below. The black finish pairs with traditional cottage and farmhouse exteriors as well as contemporary builds where a dark neutral accent is needed.

What IP rating does this carry?

The Copenhagen is rated IP44, meaning it is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashing from any direction. This makes it suitable for uncovered outdoor locations exposed to rain, but not for direct water jets or submersion.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

Yes. The 304-grade stainless steel construction and powder-coated finish resist salt corrosion better than standard outdoor fittings made from mild steel or aluminium. This makes the Copenhagen a good choice for properties near the sea or in exposed hillside locations where salt air is present.

What bulb does it take?

The lantern accepts a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K for pathway and porch lighting.

How far does it project from the wall?

The tiered shade extends approximately 200mm from the wall when mounted, providing enough projection to light vertical surfaces, overhanging eaves and the ground below. The arm and backplate add a further 50-80mm depending on the mounting surface.
