Description

The Copenhagen is a 220mm diameter outdoor pendant light built from 304-grade stainless steel with a black powder-coated finish, suspended on an adjustable chain. A clear glass shade encloses a single E27 bulb fitting (sold separately), and the IP44 rating protects the fitting from water spray and dust ingress, making it suitable for covered porches, patios, carports and entrance canopies exposed to rain splash.

Designed for exterior installation where coastal salt air, rain and temperature variation demand corrosion-resistant construction, the stainless steel body and powder-coat finish resist oxidation better than mild steel or painted aluminium alternatives. The chain allows drop adjustment between 375mm minimum and 970mm maximum, giving control over the pendant height relative to door frames, walkways or seating areas. The fitting mounts to a standard ceiling rose or junction box concealed by the ceiling cup.

The lantern-style shade combines a curved metal brim with horizontal guard ribs around the clear glass globe, a form common to mid-century Scandinavian outdoor lighting. The black finish suits both traditional facades with painted timber detailing and contemporary render or brick exteriors where dark metalwork provides contrast. Is the Copenhagen suitable for fully exposed outdoor locations?

The IP44 rating protects against water spray from any direction and dust ingress, making it suitable for covered porches, patios and carports where the fitting is sheltered from direct sustained rainfall. For fully exposed locations with no overhead cover, an IP65-rated pendant would be more appropriate.

What bulb is recommended?

The E27 socket accepts bulbs up to 60W. A 6-10W warm-white LED bulb at 2700K-3000K provides sufficient light for outdoor entrance areas while minimising running costs and bulb replacement frequency. The clear glass does not diffuse the light, so avoid bare filament styles if glare is a concern.

Can the chain length be adjusted after installation?

Yes. The chain can be shortened or lengthened during installation by removing or adding links, allowing the pendant to hang anywhere between 375mm and 970mm total drop from the ceiling. Once installed, further adjustment requires re-accessing the ceiling mounting point.
