Description

The Coniston is an 800mm-diameter acorn-shaped crystal chandelier carrying 30 E14 bulb fittings across a tiered French gold metal frame. The chandelier tapers from a wide 800mm crown to a narrow point at the base, forming an inverted teardrop profile built from hundreds of faceted clear crystal droplets arranged in densely packed tiers. Each tier overlaps the one below, creating a continuous crystal surface that refracts light in multiple directions when the chandelier is lit.

Designed for double-height entrance halls, staircases and vaulted living spaces with ceiling heights of 4m or more, the Coniston provides both ambient and decorative illumination across a large vertical volume. The chandelier ships with an adjustable chain allowing total drop lengths from 1770mm minimum to 4220mm maximum, so it can be set to suit the specific ceiling height and floor clearance of the installation space. The 30 E14 bulbs (sold separately) are distributed evenly around the frame, providing 360-degree light output.

The French gold finish on the metal frame provides a warmer, slightly muted gold tone compared to polished brass, with a low-sheen surface that reduces reflections and gives the metal a more aged appearance. The frame itself is largely hidden behind the crystal tiers when viewed from below, so the gold acts as a subtle backing rather than a dominant visual element. At 84.1kg the chandelier requires a reinforced ceiling fixing capable of carrying the combined weight of the frame, crystals and chain — professional installation is recommended.

Does the Coniston come with bulbs?

No. The chandelier takes 30 E14 (small Edison screw) bulbs up to 20W each, sold separately. Most installations use warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-3000K to achieve the intended warm ambient light without excessive heat or energy consumption.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, provided you fit dimmable E14 LED bulbs and pair the chandelier with a compatible LED dimmer switch. Not all LED bulbs dim smoothly on all dimmers — check bulb packaging for dimmer compatibility before purchasing.

What ceiling height is needed?

The minimum drop of 1770mm means the chandelier sits at least 1.77m below the ceiling rose. For a 2.5m floor clearance (typical for safe passage beneath), you need a ceiling height of at least 4.27m. The maximum drop extends to 4.22m, allowing the chandelier to fill taller entrance halls and stairwells with ceiling heights up to 6.7m or more.

Can it be installed on a standard ceiling rose?

The chandelier weighs 84.1kg, which exceeds the load capacity of most domestic ceiling roses and joists. A reinforced fixing point anchored to multiple joists or a steel structural beam is required. Professional installation by a qualified electrician is strongly recommended to ensure safe load distribution.
