Description

Twelve candle lamps sit inside a polished chrome frame dressed with clear crystal, the fitting measuring 80cm across and staying tight to the ceiling rather than hanging on a chain. The chrome is highly reflective, so light is thrown back out through the crystal and the piece reads brighter and busier than the lamp count alone suggests. Broad and low, it fills a ceiling the way a chandelier fills a stairwell. Nothing about it is subtle, and that is the point.

This is the size we suggest for a dining room, a wide hallway or a main bedroom where the ceiling is not high enough for anything to drop. It earns its place where a chandelier would hang too low over a table, and it suits older rooms and plainer new build spaces equally, since the crystal carries the decoration and the frame stays quiet. It gives plenty of light for a large room without extra fittings. The lamps will dim if you fit dimmable ones and pair them with a suitable dimmer, which is worth doing in a room used for eating as well as passing through.

The crystal is clear throughout and the metalwork is polished chrome, including the parts you see from directly below. Dust settles on the upper faces of crystal more than the lower, so give it an occasional going over with a clean dry duster while the lamps are cold, and keep sprays and metal polish away from the plating. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same shape in French gold and antique brass, with narrower and wider versions of the design and a linear one for a long table. Candle lamps are not included.

Twelve in total, each an E14 small screw fitting. LED candle lamps in the C35 shape suit it best, up to 20W each.

Will it work on a dimmer?
Yes, provided you fit dimmable lamps and use a dimmer that is rated for LED loads. A dimmer is not supplied with it.

How much room does it need?
It is 800mm in diameter and 390mm from the ceiling to the lowest point, with the main body accounting for 285mm of that.

How should the crystal be cleaned?
Switch the lighting circuit off, let the lamps go cold, then dust the crystal with a dry lint-free cloth. Avoid household sprays, which leave a film on both crystal and chrome.

Is there a smaller option in the same design?
Yes. The range runs from a 40cm three light and a 60cm six light up to a 95cm fifteen light, plus a linear version with eleven lamps.
