Description

A round flush fitting for rooms where a hanging chandelier would sit too low over your head. Six candle lamps are held inside a shallow polished chrome frame, and clear crystal is strung across the outer face so the light breaks up as it leaves rather than falling out flat. At 60cm across it reads as a proper centrepiece above a dining table, or in a hall with a little height to spare. The chrome is polished bright, so it catches daylight even with the lamps off.

This is the middle size among the round Coniston shapes, and it suits a room that wants sparkle without a drop reaching down into the space: a landing, a sitting room with a lower ceiling, a bedroom above the foot of the bed. The sockets take E14 candle lamps, and we would fit LED candles in a warm white, all matched so the crystal reads evenly across the ring. It will dim, provided the lamps you choose are dimmable and a dimmer is wired into the circuit; none is supplied with it. It is meant for dry rooms indoors on an ordinary household supply.

The frame is metal, plated and polished to a chrome finish, carrying clear crystal in the Diyas Select grade. For cleaning, take the power off at the wall switch and work over the crystal with a dry lint-free cloth, turning the cloth as it picks up dust; if the chrome looks dull, put a little glass cleaner on the cloth rather than onto the fitting. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the round shape in polished chrome, French gold and antique brass, with narrower and wider versions of the same design if this size sits awkwardly in your room. Lamps are not included.

It projects 300mm overall, with the body itself at 190mm, so it stays close to the ceiling and leaves headroom clear.

What is the crystal, and can it be washed?
Clear Diyas Select crystal. Wipe it dry rather than washing it in place; if a piece needs more, remove it, clean it away from the fitting and dry it fully before it goes back.

What is the finish like in use?
Polished chrome is a mirror-bright plate. It shows fingerprints while you are handling it, so a final pass with a dry cloth is worth the minute.
