Description

The Coniston is a shallow round flush ceiling light, a broad tier of clear cut crystal held on a polished chrome frame that throws light back through the glass and catches it again on the metal. Three candle lamps sit within, spaced around the body so the brightness spreads evenly across the crystal rather than pooling at one edge. Sitting close to the ceiling and measuring 40cm across, it reads as a wide disc of sparkle rather than anything that hangs down into the room.

This is the size we reach for in hallways, landings and bedrooms, and in any room where the ceiling sits low enough that a chandelier on a chain would be in the way. It suits a dining room in a flat, a dressing room, or the top of a staircase where you want something decorative overhead but nothing you could walk into. It works on a dimmer if you fit dimmable lamps, which is worth doing in a bedroom where you want the crystal glinting softly late in the evening. We would put warm white candle lamps in it and leave them at that.

The frame is metal in a bright polished chrome, and the crystal is clear throughout, cut so the facets pick up whatever light passes through them. Wipe the crystal with a clean dry cloth now and then, and for fingermarks use a cloth barely dampened with water, with the switch off and the lamps cold first. Keep it to dry rooms indoors rather than a bathroom or a covered porch. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same fitting in French gold and antique brass, and the range steps up through wider round versions and a long linear one if you have a bigger room to cover. Lamps are not included.

Yes. The same design runs to a 60cm six light and 80cm twelve light, plus a 95cm fifteen light and a linear eleven light version.

Is it suitable for a bathroom?
No. It is rated IP20 and should be kept to dry indoor rooms.
