Description

Close to the ceiling and barely deeper than the plate it sits on, this is a compact flush fitting: a warm antique brass frame carrying rows of clear cut crystal. Three candle lamps sit within the body, and the light they throw is broken up by every facet, so the effect is bright and lively rather than soft and diffused. At 40cm across, it reads rather like a small chandelier that has been pressed flat against the ceiling.

It suits rooms where a hanging fitting would simply be in the way: a landing, an entrance hall, a bedroom over the foot of the bed, or a compact dining room with a low ceiling. We reach for this size when the ceiling sits below standard height and anything on a drop would crowd the room. Dimmable lamps will take it from full sparkle down to something quieter for the evening, provided there is a compatible dimmer on the circuit. It is intended for dry indoor rooms on a normal household supply, well away from bathroom zones and anywhere that gets steamy.

The frame is metal in an antique brass finish, mellow and slightly aged rather than bright, and the crystal is clear and faceted to pick up light from several directions. To clean, wipe the crystal with a barely damp cloth and dry it at once so no marks are left behind, keeping water off the brass; a dry duster will do between times. It carries a one year warranty. Lamps are not included, and small E14 candle lamps are what to fit. The same design runs right through the range: this size is also offered in polished chrome and in French gold, with wider round versions and a linear one for a long table or a kitchen island.
