Description
The COB LED Strip is a continuous, dot-free line of diodes on a flexible reel, giving an even ribbon of light with none of the spotting you get from spaced SMD chips. It draws 8 watts per metre and gives 680 lumens per metre in a warm white 3000K tone, with a high CRI of Ra 90 for true-looking colours on whatever it sits behind. Sold as a 25 metre reel, it cuts to length at the marked interval every 2.5 cm, so a run can be sized exactly to a shelf, a cove or a worktop edge. In the US this style of product is widely sold as COB LED tape light.
The strip suits under-cabinet and over-cabinet lines in a kitchen, cove and coffer detailing, shelf and display lighting, stair and skirting runs, and outline work along eaves or a pergola. Because it is rated IP65, it copes with damp and sheltered outdoor positions as well as dry interiors, so the same reel works in a bathroom recess or under an external soffit. The output is best read as a continuous grazing line rather than a room light, so plan it as an accent or task strip close to the surface it lights rather than as a single source for a whole space.
Construction is a slim flexible profile measuring 8.2 mm wide, with an IP65 coating sealing the diodes against moisture and dust. The strip runs on 12V DC and needs a matching LED driver, which is sold separately and must be sized to the total length and wattage of the run you cut. Rated lifespan is 30,000 hours. The 25 metre reel weighs 412 g and cuts only at the printed 2.5 cm points. We also stock the driver and connectors needed to wire and join a run from this range.

Frequently Asked
Does this strip need a driver?
Yes. It runs on 12V DC, so it cannot be wired straight to the mains and needs a matching 12V LED driver, which is supplied separately. Size the driver to the total wattage of the length you cut, allowing 8 watts for every metre of strip in the run.
Can it be cut to length, and where?
Yes. The strip can be cut to size at the marked points, which fall every 2.5 cm along the reel. Always cut on the printed line so the circuit stays complete, and the offcut can be wired up separately with the right connector.
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, within reason. The IP65 rating means it is coated against moisture and dust, so it is suitable for damp and sheltered outdoor positions such as under a soffit, in a porch or along a covered pergola. It is happy indoors too, including bathroom coves and under-cabinet runs.
How do I keep it clean?
Switch off and let the strip cool, then wipe the IP65 coating with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it off. Avoid solvents and abrasive pads, which can mark the coating, and do not soak the cut ends or connection points.
