Description

The COB LED Strip gives a continuous, dot-free line of light along a flexible 5m reel, drawing 12W per metre and putting out 1020 lumens per metre in a warm white 3000K tone. Unlike a spaced SMD tape, the closely packed diodes of a COB strip read as one even line rather than a row of dots, which suits places where the run is seen directly. Known in the US as COB LED tape light, it cuts to length at the marked intervals and runs from a 12V DC LED driver, supplied separately.

Its IP65 rating makes it a good fit for kitchen plinths, under-cabinet runs, coving, shelving and stair edges, as well as sheltered outdoor spots such as a covered porch, soffit or pergola where it meets splashes and damp. The smooth, glare-controlled line works well as a wash along an edge or recessed into an aluminium channel, where the dot-free output throws an even grazing light rather than visible hotspots. Plan the layout around the 12V driver position and keep individual runs within the driver's stated capacity.

Built on a flexible PCB with an IP65 coating, the strip carries an Ra 90 colour rendering for accurate, natural-looking colour and is rated for around 30,000 hours. It cuts only at the marked points and joins with connectors or solder, and it must be powered through a matching 12V DC driver rather than wired direct to the mains. The warm white tone and self-adhesive backing make it straightforward to fit into channels, under units or along architectural lines. Does this strip need a separate driver?

Yes. It runs on 12V DC, so it must be powered through a matching 12V LED driver rather than wired straight to the mains. Size the driver to the total wattage of your run, at 12W per metre, and allow a little headroom.

Can the strip be cut to length?

Yes. It cuts only at the marked cut points along the reel, so you can trim a 5m run to fit a shelf, plinth or channel. Use the supplied or matching connectors to join sections or feed power at a new point.

Can it be used outdoors?

Its IP65 rating makes it weatherproof against splashes and damp, so it suits covered outdoor areas such as soffits, porches and pergolas. Keep connections and the driver protected and out of standing water for reliable outdoor use.

What does the light look like?

The COB construction gives a continuous, dot-free line rather than visible individual diodes, with a warm 3000K white tone and Ra 90 colour rendering for natural colour. It works best as an even wash along an edge or inside an aluminium profile.
