Description
The COB LED Strip is a flexible 5 metre reel that gives a continuous, dot-free line of light rather than the visible spots of a standard SMD tape. It draws 10W per metre and puts out seam... 950 lumens per metre at a cool white 4000K tone, with the diodes set close enough along the run to read as one even line. Often described as led tape or led strip lights, this is the cut-to-length format buyers reach for under cabinets, along coves and on shelving, and as a US led tape light it serves the same jobs. It runs on 12V DC, so a matching LED driver is needed (sold separately) rather than a direct mains connection.
Because it carries an IP65 rating, the strip is coated against moisture and copes with damp and sheltered outdoor positions as well as dry indoor runs. That makes it a good fit for kitchen plinths, under-cabinet task lines, stair and shelf edges, garden room eaves and covered patios. The dot-free output suits places where the light line itself is on show, since there is no spotting to break up the run. Coverage is a continuous grazing line rather than a room-filling wash, so plan it as accent and task lighting picking out a length of worktop, joinery or an outline rather than lighting a whole room.
Construction is a flexible reel that cuts to length only at the marked points, every 2.5cm, so the run can be trimmed to fit a worktop or shelf exactly. The colour rendering is Ra 90, which holds tones and surfaces accurately, and the rated lifespan is 30,000 hours. It runs on 12V DC from a separate LED driver, which must be sized to the total wattage of the length used. The reel measures 5 metres and weighs 88g. Our range also includes the matching drivers and connectors to complete the run.

Frequently Asked
Does this LED strip need a driver?
Yes. It runs on 12V DC, so it cannot be wired straight to the mains and needs a 12V LED driver, which is sold separately. Size the driver to the total wattage of the length you fit, allowing 10W for every metre used.
Can the strip be cut to length, and where?
Yes. It can be trimmed every 2.5cm at the marked cut points along the reel, so you can match it to a worktop, shelf or cove run. Only cut on the marked lines so the circuit stays intact.
Can it be used outdoors?
Its IP65 rating means it is coated against moisture and suits damp and sheltered outdoor positions such as covered eaves and patios, as well as dry indoor runs. It is not intended for fully submerged use.
How do I keep the strip clean?
Wipe the strip with a soft, dry or lightly damp cloth once it is switched off and cool. Avoid solvents and harsh cleaners, which can mark the protective coating, and do not soak the cut ends.
