Description
This COB LED strip puts out a continuous, dot-free line of light along a flexible 5m reel, drawing 10W per metre and giving 920 lumens per metre in a warm white 3000K tone. Unlike spaced SMD led strip lights, the COB format places the diodes in a tight run so there are no visible hotspots, just an even line. Known in the US as COB led tape light, it cuts to length every 5cm at the marked points, so you can trim the reel to fit a shelf, cove or run exactly. It runs from a 24V DC LED driver, which is needed to power it and is sold separately.
The strip suits under-cabinet lighting in a kitchen, cove and recess detailing, shelf edges, display units and accent runs behind a headboard or media wall. Its warm 3000K output and Ra90 colour rendering keep colours and surfaces looking natural, so it works well where the light grazes a worktop or picks out joinery. Rather than lighting a whole room, it lays down a soft, continuous accent line wherever the reel is fixed, and the brightness builds with the length you install. Plan your run length against the 5m reel and pair it with a driver sized for the total wattage you fit.
Built on a flexible PCB with a self-adhesive backing, the strip bends around shallow curves and sits flat along straight channels. It is rated IP00, so it is for dry indoor use only and should be kept out of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor location. The 24V DC supply means it is not mains-direct and must run from a matching LED driver. Rated for 30,000 hours with a single fixed warm white tone, it is best mounted in an aluminium profile for heat management and a cleaner finish. Other lengths and drive options sit in the same COB LED Strip range.

Frequently Asked
Does this strip need a driver?
Yes. It is a 24V DC strip, so it does not run straight from a wall socket and needs a matching 24V LED driver. The driver is sold separately, and you should size it to cover the total wattage of the length you install, at 10W per metre.
Can the strip be cut to length?
Yes. The reel can be trimmed every 5cm at the marked cut points, so you can fit it to a shelf, cove or run. Only cut at the marked intervals, and use connectors or solder to rejoin sections if needed.
Can it be used outdoors or in a bathroom?
No. This strip is rated IP00, which means it is for dry indoor use only. Keep it clear of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor or sheltered-outdoor location, where a coated IP65 strip would be required instead.
What is the difference between COB and SMD strip?
A COB strip places the diodes in a continuous line, so you get an even, dot-free run of light with no visible hotspots. An SMD strip uses spaced individual diodes, which can show points of light. This COB version gives a smoother result, ideal for cove and under-cabinet work.
