Description
This COB LED strip light delivers a continuous, dot-free line of light along a flexible reel, with none of the spotting you get from spaced diodes. Known in the US as COB LED tape, it draws 10W per metre and gives 1000 lumens per metre in a crisp 6500K daylight tone, with an Ra 90 colour rendering that keeps surfaces and finishes looking true. The strip cuts to length at the marked interval every 5 cm, so a run can be sized exactly to the space it lights. It runs from a 24V DC LED driver, which is specified separately to suit the total length installed.
Because it is coated to IP65, this strip suits damp and sheltered outdoor positions as well as dry interiors, making it a flexible choice for under-cabinet runs, cove and shelf detailing, garden room eaves and sheltered patio outlines. The even daylight output works well as a continuous accent or task glow rather than as a room's main ambient source, so think of its coverage in terms of the length of edge or recess it traces rather than a floor area. A 25m reel covers long, unbroken runs, and the dot-free emission keeps the line looking smooth where it is on show.
The diodes sit on a flexible carrier that bends around corners and into channels, and the IP65 coating shields it against splashes and moisture for wet locations. It runs on 24V DC and needs a matching 24V LED driver, sized to the wattage of the length you install; do not connect it directly to the mains. Rated for 30,000 hours, the strip cuts only at the marked 5 cm points. We supply compatible drivers and aluminium profiles across the range to complete the install.

Frequently Asked
Does this strip need a driver, and what size?
Yes. It runs on 24V DC, so it needs a matching 24V LED driver, which is sold separately. Size the driver to the total wattage of the length you install, allowing a little headroom; at 10W per metre a 5 metre run draws around 50W.
Can it be cut to length, and where?
Yes. The strip is cut-to-length and cuts only at the marked points, which fall every 5 cm along the reel. Cutting between the marks will damage the section, so always trim on the indicated line.
Is it suitable for outdoor or damp locations?
Yes. It is coated to IP65, so it withstands splashes and moisture and suits sheltered outdoor positions such as eaves, soffits and covered patios, as well as damp interiors like kitchens and bathrooms. Keep connections and the driver in a suitable enclosure.
What is the difference between COB and spaced SMD strip?
COB places the diodes in a continuous line, giving a smooth, dot-free band of light with no visible spotting, even close up or behind a thin diffuser. That makes it a better choice than spaced SMD strip for runs that are directly on show, such as open shelving and cove detailing.
