Description
The COB LED Strip is a continuous, dot-free line of diodes on a flexible 5 metre reel, often sold in the US as COB LED tape or light strip. Unlike spaced-diode strips, the COB construction puts out an even line of light with no visible hot spots, drawing 10W per metre for 920 lumens per metre. The tone is a fixed warm white at 3000K with a high CRI of Ra90, so colours read accurately along the run. It cuts to length at the marked points every 2.5 cm, letting you size each section to the space.
Being a low, even line of light, it suits under-cabinet runs, shelf and plinth lighting, cove detailing and concealed accent strips where a continuous glow is wanted rather than broad room lighting. The dot-free output is well placed where the strip sits in direct view, such as the underside of a kitchen wall unit or along a stair stringer indoors. Because the rating is IP00, keep it to dry indoor positions and clear of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor location. Coverage is best judged by the length installed and the surface it grazes rather than a floor area.
The strip runs on 12V DC, so it is not a mains-direct fitting and needs a matching 12V LED driver, which is supplied separately and sized to the total wattage of the run. Rated for 30,000 hours, it ships as a 5 metre reel measuring 8 mm wide. Mount it to a clean, dry surface using the backing, trimming only at the printed cut marks. We also stack matching 12V drivers and aluminium profiles in the range to finish the install.

Frequently Asked
Does this strip need a driver?
Yes. It runs on 12V DC rather than mains, so it needs a 12V LED driver sized to the total wattage of your run. At 10W per metre, a full 5 metre reel draws 50W, so the driver must be rated above that. The driver is supplied separately.
Can the strip be cut to length?
Yes. It can be cut at the marked points every 2.5 cm to fit your space. Only cut at those marks, as cutting elsewhere will break the circuit for that section. The offcut beyond the last live section will not light.
Can it be used outdoors or in a bathroom?
No. This reel is rated IP00, which is for dry indoor use only. Keep it out of bathrooms, damp areas and any outdoor position. For sheltered or wet locations you would need a coated IP65 strip instead.
What colour and quality of light does it give?
It gives a fixed warm white at 3000K, a soft tone suited to relaxed and accent settings. The high CRI of Ra90 means colours and finishes appear true under the light. The dot-free COB construction produces an even line with no visible spots.
