Description
A small golf ball lamp in gold tinted glass, drawing 4W and giving a deep amber light at 2200K. The tint is part of the glass itself, so the bulb reads as warm honey whether it is lit or resting cold in a fitting. Light leaves it in every direction rather than being thrown forward, and at 470 lumens the output is gentle, closer to a low candle lamp than to a working bulb. The small screw cap suits chandeliers, candle lamps and the many little fittings built around that thread.
We use lamps like this where the bulb itself is meant to be seen: an open cluster pendant over a dining table, a glass lantern in a hallway, a pair of bedside wall lights, or a chandelier whose arms point upward with nothing to hide behind. The very warm tone flatters brick, wood and dark paint, and it holds that amber character as it is turned down. It does dim, though a dimmer suited to LED lamps is needed and none is supplied with the bulb. If you want a room that reads as lamplight rather than daylight, this is the sort of thing we would put in.
The body is blown glass with the gold applied to the envelope, finished at a plain metal cap, and the whole thing is light enough to sit comfortably in delicate fittings. Keep it clean by switching the circuit off, letting the glass go cold, then wiping with a dry cloth; sprays and damp cloths will mark the tinted surface over time. It is intended for dry rooms indoors and for standard household wiring. It carries a five year warranty. We would fit a set of these together rather than one alone, since the colour of the glass is most convincing when several are seen at once through the same fitting.

Frequently Asked
What size is the bulb?
It is a G45 golf ball shape, 45mm across the glass and 78mm tall including the cap, so it fits most small candle fittings and lanterns.
How bright is it?
It produces 470 lumens from 4W, spread through a full 360 degrees. That is soft, decorative light rather than task light.
Will it work on my dimmer?
It dims with a dimmer rated for LED loads. Older resistive dimmers made for filament lamps can cause flicker or buzz, and no dimmer is included.
How warm is the light?
2200K, described as extra warm white. It is noticeably deeper and more amber than a standard 2700K warm white lamp.
How long should it last?
It is rated at 25,000 hours of average life and carries a five year warranty.
Can I clean the gold finish?
Only with a dry cloth on a cold bulb. Avoid solvents, glass cleaner and anything abrasive, as the tint sits on the glass surface.
