Description
The Citronic Classic is a 3m speaker cable terminated at both ends with latching SPK plugs, using 1.5mm² cross-section pure copper conductors housed in a rubberised jacket. The cable carries audio signal from an amplifier or powered mixer to a passive speaker, with the SPK connectors providing a latching grip on compatible sockets to prevent accidental disconnection during use.
Designed for studio monitor setups, small performance rigs and fixed installations where speaker runs are under 5m, the 3m length suits nearfield listening positions, desktop monitors paired with an audio interface, and compact PA setups where the amplifier sits close to the speaker stack. The latching SPK connectors twist-lock into place on compatible speaker sockets, holding the connection under movement and vibration without requiring screwdriver tightening.
The cable uses two conductors of 50-strand 0.17mm diameter pure copper wire, giving a combined cross-sectional area of 1.5mm² per conductor. This gauge handles up to 300W RMS per cable on typical 8Ω speaker loads without significant power loss over the 3m run. The rubberised outer jacket resists snags and kinks, and the cable includes internal cotton reinforcement to reduce conductor fatigue from repeated coiling and uncoiling.
The 7mm outer diameter makes the cable easy to route through cable trays, around desk legs and along skirting boards without excess bulk. The soft-touch rubberised finish reduces handling noise when the cable is moved during setup, making it suitable for studio environments where mechanical noise can interfere with recording sessions.

Frequently Asked
What power can this cable handle?
The 1.5mm² conductor gauge is rated for up to approximately 300W RMS per cable on typical 8Ω speaker loads over a 3m run. Higher loads or lower impedances may require a thicker cable to avoid power loss.
Are the SPK connectors compatible with all speaker sockets?
SPK connectors fit standard Speakon-compatible sockets found on most modern passive PA speakers and powered monitors. Check your speaker's input panel for a circular four-pin socket with a twist-lock mechanism. The connectors are not compatible with screw-terminal or 6.35mm jack inputs.
Can this cable be used for bi-wiring?
No. This cable has two conductors (positive and negative) and is designed for standard single-wire speaker connections. Bi-wiring requires two separate cables or a dedicated four-conductor cable with compatible terminations.
What's the difference between 1.5mm² and 2.5mm² speaker cable?
2.5mm² cable has a larger cross-sectional area and lower resistance, which reduces power loss over longer runs and allows higher wattages to be carried without heat buildup. For runs under 5m and power levels under 300W, 1.5mm² is sufficient. Runs over 10m or power levels above 500W benefit from 2.5mm² or thicker.
