Description

This citrine gemstone tree ornament sets a little tree of golden yellow chips beneath a clear arched dome, a small piece of brightness for a shelf or desk. Its twisted bronze-coloured trunk splits into fine branches, each tipped with a chip of citrine, and the tree rises from a bed of matching yellow chips on a round brown base. The dome has a small round knob on top and lifts away, and the whole piece has a shiny finish that catches the light. It stands 11.7cm tall, 7.5cm wide and 7.4cm deep, so it fits neatly into a small space.

We like it on a bedside table, a bookshelf, a windowsill or the corner of a desk, anywhere a touch of warm yellow is welcome. Its compact size suits a dressing table or a busy mantelpiece as well as a quiet nook, and the clear dome lets the citrine show from every side. The golden tones sit happily with natural wood furniture, cream and white, and bring a little warmth to cooler greys and blues. It makes a thoughtful gift, or a small treat for your own home.

The tree stands on its chip-covered disc above the round base, with the dome resting over it to keep dust from settling on the branches. The branches are fine, so we suggest leaving them in their shape rather than bending them. For care, dust the dome with a soft dry cloth, wipe the base with a slightly damp cloth and dry it, and lift the dome away gently to dust the tree with a soft brush now and then. Set it where daylight falls across it, perhaps beside a stack of books or a small plant, and the yellow chips will glow.
