The Chicago is a 560mm outdoor wall lantern in textured black aluminium with a clear seeded blown glass lantern head and a single E27 bulb fitting. The downward-facing lantern hangs from a scrolled bracket mounted to a decorative backplate, both cast from aluminium and finished in a textured black coating that resists corrosion in coastal and damp conditions.

Designed for porch entrances, front doors, garage sides and garden walls, the Chicago pairs a traditional coach lantern silhouette with IP44 weather protection. The 340mm projection from the wall means the lantern clears most door frames and porch canopies without interference, while the 280mm diameter lantern head provides enough light spread to cover a typical 900mm-wide doorway. The seeded glass diffuses light from the bulb, reducing glare at eye level while casting a warm glow across stonework and rendered walls.

The aluminium construction gives the Chicago a 3.2kg weight that feels substantial without requiring additional wall reinforcement on brick or block walls. The textured black finish is applied over a corrosion-resistant base coat, providing protection in exposed positions subject to rain, salt spray and UV exposure. The E27 lampholder accepts standard LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W (sold separately), allowing control over colour temperature and brightness depending on the installation position.

What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 provides protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashing from any direction. This rating makes the Chicago suitable for covered porches, under eaves, and wall positions that receive rain but are not subject to direct water jets or submersion.

What bulb does it take?

The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are not included. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 6-10W and 2700K for a traditional coach lantern appearance.

Can it be mounted on rendered or stone walls?

Yes. The backplate has two fixing points and the fitting weighs approximately 3.2kg, making it suitable for solid brick, block, stone or rendered walls using appropriate wall plugs and screws. The 340mm projection means it clears most door frames and porch canopies.

Is the glass replaceable if broken?
