Description

The Chawton is a 402mm picture light in polished nickel with a horizontal bar housing two E14 candle bulb fittings behind a semi-cylindrical metal shade. The light bar mounts on a rectangular backplate via adjustable knuckle joints, allowing the angle of the light to be directed down onto the artwork surface or up towards the frame top depending on the height of the mounting and the size of the piece being lit.

Designed for wall mounting directly above framed artwork, mirrors, or photograph displays, the Chawton suits traditional and transitional interiors where focused task lighting is needed without recessed ceiling fittings. The 186mm projection from the wall positions the light source forward of the picture surface, reducing glare on glazed frames while casting even illumination across the width of the piece. The fixture suits artworks and mirrors between 600mm and 1000mm wide.

The polished nickel finish provides a bright metallic surface that reflects surrounding light and pairs with cooler-toned interiors, silver-framed artwork, and modern classical spaces. The two E14 bulb fittings allow independent bulb choice for colour temperature and wattage, giving flexibility to match the light to the specific artwork and room conditions. Can the angle be adjusted after installation?

Yes. The horizontal bar is mounted on adjustable knuckle joints that allow the light to be angled up or down to direct illumination onto the artwork surface. The joints can be repositioned without removing the backplate from the wall.

How is the polished nickel finish maintained?

Polished nickel can be wiped with a soft, dry microfibre cloth to remove dust and fingerprints. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, followed immediately by drying with a clean cloth to prevent water spotting.
