Description

Charlie is a rocking dog with a long fabric body, an upright tail, long floppy ears and a striped band around his middle, set on a wooden rocker base with a T-shaped handlebar to hold. He is made from polyester, iron and poplar wood, and he is multicoloured, with a fine ribbed texture across the fabric, a stitched eye on each side of his face and small stitched dots on his muzzle. He measures 66cm long, 34cm wide and 51cm tall and weighs 3.3KG, so one adult can lift him and carry him from room to room.

He belongs on the floor of a nursery, a playroom or a child's bedroom, where he is a ride and a companion in one. At 34cm wide he tucks in beside a bookcase, a toy basket or the end of a bed when nobody is riding him, then comes out into the middle of the rug for play. The handlebar gives a child's hands something to grip while the curved runners rock him back and forth, and the friendly dog face invites stories and games as well as rocking. He takes a maximum load of 60KG. He makes a warm birthday or Christmas present, and he is cheerful enough to leave out on show between rides.

The rocker base is built from two curved wooden runners joined by crossbars, with a wooden board under each pair of feet, and the handlebar sits on a wooden post rising from his back. The fabric carries its ribbed finish across his head, body and legs, with a contrasting fabric on the ears and a separate striped panel around his middle.
