Description
The Chapel Hill is a 394mm outdoor half wall lantern with a steep pyramidal roof, matt black finish and clear glass panels on three sides. Two E14 bulbs (sold separately, each up to 40W) sit inside the glass enclosure on vertical mounts, visible through the clear panes. The lantern mounts flat against a wall with a 152mm projection from the mounting surface.
Designed for traditional and heritage-style homes, the Chapel Hill suits front porches, side entrances, garage walls and courtyard gates. The half-wall mounting means it sits flush against vertical surfaces rather than projecting on a bracket, making it appropriate for narrower walkways or where full-projection lanterns would obstruct passage. The IP44 rating protects against rain and outdoor moisture, though the fitting is not submersible and should be mounted under an overhang or porch roof for longest life.
The lantern frame uses bevelled metal detailing around each glass pane and a finial-topped crown at the peak of the roof, referencing early 20th-century American carriage-house lanterns. The matt black finish reads as charcoal grey under daylight and true black at dusk, pairing with brick, stone, painted render and timber cladding without competing for visual attention. The 216mm width suits standard door-frame proportions when mounted in pairs either side of an entrance.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Chapel Hill take?
The lantern takes two E14 small Edison screw bulbs, each up to 40W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs at 4-6W and 2700K for a traditional glow through the clear glass.
Is it weatherproof?
The IP44 rating protects against rain and outdoor moisture from any direction. The fitting is designed for outdoor use but performs best when mounted under a porch overhang or eave, protecting the top finial and glass seals from prolonged direct rain exposure.
Can it be mounted on both sides of a door?
Yes. The 216mm width and symmetrical design make the Chapel Hill suitable for paired installation either side of a front door or garage entrance. Mounting centres of 1200-1500mm apart suit most standard door frames.
What is the projection from the wall?
The lantern projects 152mm from the mounting surface when installed. This half-wall design sits flatter against the wall than full-projection bracket lanterns, making it suitable for narrower walkways or where door swing clearance is limited.
