Description
The Chapel is a 2.27m twin lamp post in black die-cast aluminium, carrying two E27 lanterns on a symmetrical cross-arm design. Each lantern houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) behind clear glass panels, with a traditional coach-style top cap and downward light projection. The post is fluted below the lantern arm, with a square plinth base for ground-level installation.
Designed for driveways, garden paths, front entrances and larger patios, the twin-arm configuration distributes light across a wider footprint than single-post designs, reducing dark zones in mid-sized outdoor areas. The 600mm arm span positions each lantern approximately 300mm from the centre line, creating balanced illumination either side of the post. The IP44 rating protects against rain, splashes and dust ingress, making the fitting suitable for exposed positions in UK weather conditions.
The black powder-coated finish on the die-cast aluminium provides corrosion resistance and pairs well with both period properties and contemporary builds. The clear glass panels maximise light output compared to seeded or frosted alternatives, making the fitting more effective as functional path lighting rather than purely decorative accent. At 2.27m installed height, the Chapel sits above typical fence lines and provides overhead lighting without overpowering smaller front gardens or courtyard spaces.
Each E27 socket accepts bulbs up to 60W, giving flexibility to choose LED or traditional filament sources depending on the desired colour temperature and energy consumption. Most installations use warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to match traditional outdoor lighting aesthetics while keeping running costs low.

Frequently Asked
Does the Chapel require professional installation?
Yes. The post requires ground-level mounting onto a concrete foundation or fixed plinth, and mains electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with UK wiring regulations. The base plate is designed for surface mounting onto a pre-poured concrete pad.
What bulbs are recommended?
The fitting takes two E27 bulbs up to 60W each. Most users install warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K to match traditional outdoor lighting aesthetics while reducing energy consumption. Bulbs are sold separately.
Is the IP44 rating sufficient for exposed coastal areas?
IP44 protects against rain and splashes from any direction, making it suitable for most UK outdoor positions including coastal areas. However, die-cast aluminium in high-salt environments benefits from periodic rinsing with fresh water to remove salt deposits and prolong the finish.
Can the lanterns be replaced individually if damaged?
The lanterns are fixed to the cross-arm as part of the integrated design. For replacement parts or repair queries, contact Elstead Lighting directly or speak to Niori's support team for guidance on sourcing compatible components.
