Description
The Chapel is a 440mm outdoor mini pedestal lantern in black die-cast aluminium with clear glass panels on four sides and a traditional coach-style canopy and finial. A single E27 bulb fitting sits within the glazed chamber, visible through the clear glass, which allows light to spread across pathways, driveways and garden borders without diffusion.
Designed for gate piers, low garden walls, driveway entrances and patio borders, the 440mm height sits above typical kerb height without blocking sightlines at eye level. The hexagonal pedestal base is pre-drilled for surface mounting onto flat masonry, brick or stone piers, and the IP44 rating protects against rain and garden hose spray from any angle. The lantern accepts any standard E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to 60W (sold separately).
The black powder-coated finish on the die-cast aluminium resists corrosion and weathering better than painted steel or plastic alternatives. The four clear glass panels are set into gaskets within the metal frame, keeping water out while allowing the bulb to cast light in all directions. The Chapel range follows a traditional lantern silhouette with tapered canopy, corner posts and a turned finial, pairing with Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian-style properties as well as contemporary homes that reference classical forms.

Frequently Asked
What IP rating does this carry?
The Chapel pedestal lantern is rated IP44, meaning it is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and against water splashes from any direction. This makes it suitable for outdoor use in UK weather, including rain and garden spray, but it should not be submerged or installed where standing water collects.
What bulb does it take?
The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for traditional outdoor ambience, or a cool-white daylight bulb for security lighting.
How is it mounted?
The hexagonal pedestal base has pre-drilled fixing holes for surface mounting onto brick, stone or masonry piers, gate posts or low garden walls. The base should be fixed to a flat, level surface using appropriate masonry fixings (not included).
What other finishes are available in the Chapel range?
The Chapel range from Elstead Lighting includes multiple finishes and mounting styles (wall brackets, hanging lanterns, larger pedestals). Use the search function or filters at Niori to find other Chapel variants in stock.
