Description

The Chapel is a 2m outdoor lamp post with a traditional lantern head in black die-cast aluminium. The lantern houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) behind four clear glass panels, mounted on a fluted column post with a hexagonal plinth base. The IP44 rating provides protection against solid objects above 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for year-round installation in driveways, front gardens and pathways.

Designed for front-of-house and driveway lighting where a traditional post-mounted lantern is needed, the Chapel sits on a concrete foundation or paving base and wires underground to the mains supply. The 2m height positions the light source above head height, casting downward illumination across a 3-4m diameter area depending on bulb choice. The clear glass maximises light output rather than diffusing it, so a warm-white LED bulb between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K typically provides sufficient light for safe navigation without glare.

The die-cast aluminium construction resists corrosion in coastal and high-rainfall environments better than pressed steel or cast iron alternatives. The black powder-coated finish is applied after casting, giving a uniform matt surface that hides minor scratches and weathers without peeling. The fluted column detail and curved lantern roof reference Victorian and Edwardian street lighting, pairing with period properties and traditionally-styled new builds. What bulb does it take?

The Chapel takes a standard E27 Edison screw bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations use a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for sufficient driveway or pathway lighting without excessive glare.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

Yes. The die-cast aluminium construction and powder-coated black finish resist salt air and corrosion better than pressed steel or cast iron lamp posts. The IP44 rating provides protection against driven rain and sea spray, making it suitable for coastal gardens and seafront properties.

How is it installed?

The lamp post requires a concrete foundation or paving base with an underground electrical supply run to the base of the column. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with Part P Building Regulations and BS 7671 wiring standards.

Can it be used with a dusk-to-dawn sensor?

Yes. The lamp post can be wired to an external photocell sensor or timer to automate switching at dusk and dawn. The sensor is not included and must be specified separately based on your wiring configuration.
