Cedric 2 Light Flush Ceiling Light - Lacquered Brass

The Cedric is a 305mm flush ceiling light from Hinkley, combining a cylindrical lacquered brass outer ring with an opal etched glass diffuser. Two E27 bulbs (sold separately) sit behind the glass, distributing light evenly downwards and through the opal surface. The fitting projects just 122mm from the ceiling, making it suitable for rooms with ceiling heights below 2.4m where a pendant would hang too low.

Designed for hallways, cloakrooms, utility rooms, box bedrooms and compact bathrooms, the Cedric provides general ambient lighting without dominating the ceiling plane. The lacquered brass finish offers a warmer metallic tone than polished chrome or nickel, pairing well with timber joinery, neutral walls and patterned floor tiles. The flush-mount format eliminates the need for a chain or rod, giving a cleaner ceiling profile in spaces where visual simplicity matters.

The opal etched glass diffuses the light from both bulbs to avoid harsh shadows or visible filament glare, while the brass ring provides a defined edge and adds warmth to the fixture. The glass panel is removable for bulb replacement and cleaning. The Cedric accepts any E27 LED, halogen or filament bulb up to 40W per socket, allowing control over colour temperature and brightness to suit the room's function.

What bulbs does the Cedric take?

The fitting takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 40W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for general ambient lighting in hallways and smaller rooms.

Is it suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The Cedric projects 122mm from the ceiling, making it appropriate for ceiling heights below 2.4m where pendant lights would hang too low or feel intrusive. It works well in box bedrooms, hallways and utility rooms with standard 2.3m ceiling heights.

Can the glass diffuser be removed for cleaning?

Yes. The opal glass panel is removable for bulb replacement and cleaning. The lacquered brass ring can be wiped with a soft dry cloth, and the glass can be cleaned with a damp microfibre cloth and dried immediately to avoid water marks.
