Description

The Cardito is a slim linear pendant light: a black bar 100cm long and 8cm wide, hung on two fine wires from a black rectangular ceiling canopy and 110cm high overall. Along its length runs a clear glass channel filled with pieces of brilliant glass, which catch the light from the integrated LEDs and give the bar a gentle sparkle. There are six 6W LEDs, each giving 570 lumens, and as they are integrated there are no bulbs to buy or change. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in a dry room.

We think it is at its best over a dining table, where the long, narrow bar follows the line of the table. A kitchen island or a long desk in a study suits it just as well. The black frame draws a crisp outline that sits comfortably in a modern room, while the glass pieces add a little glamour without the fuss of a chandelier. Because the colour temperature adjusts, one light gives you bright, cool light for homework or reading and a warmer glow for a relaxed dinner.

The body is aluminium and steel in black, and the shade is clear glass holding pieces of brilliant glass. A touch dimmer lets you bring the brightness down for a quiet evening, and the colour temperature moves from a warm 2700K to a cooler, crisper 5000K. It runs on 220-240V mains, and as a wired-in light it should be installed by a qualified electrician.
