Description

The Capri is an extendable dining table with a black marble-effect melamine top on a matte black metal base, designed to seat 12-14 people when fully extended to 4 metres. The top is constructed from MDF with a high-gloss black marble-pattern laminate protected by a melamine surface layer, while the base uses two conical steel supports finished in matte black powder coat.

Built for large dining rooms, open-plan kitchen-diners and hospitality settings where seating capacity needs to flex between 12 and 14 covers, the table extends from a closed length of 206cm to a maximum of 400cm. The extension mechanism uses a butterfly leaf system concealed within the table structure, which unfolds and locks into place to add the additional 194cm. At 103cm depth and 79cm height, the table provides standard dining proportions across its full extended length.

The 107.5kg total weight gives the table stability when extended to its full 4-metre span without requiring additional leg supports at the centre. The matte black edging around the tabletop hides the MDF core and frames the high-gloss marble-pattern surface, creating tonal contrast between the reflective top and the non-reflective base and edge treatment. The melamine surface resists heat marks, moisture rings and minor impact damage better than untreated MDF or natural wood veneer.

The two conical base supports are positioned to allow seating along both long edges and both ends when the table is extended, with no centre leg obstructing legroom. Each support tapers from approximately 45cm diameter at floor level to 30cm where it meets the underside of the tabletop, distributing the 107.5kg load across a wide footprint while keeping the visual mass concentrated at floor level.

How does the extension mechanism work?

The Capri uses a butterfly leaf system concealed within the table structure when closed at 206cm. To extend, the two halves of the tabletop are pulled apart and the butterfly leaves unfold from the centre to fill the gap, locking into place to create the full 400cm length. The mechanism is spring-assisted to reduce the manual effort required.

Does the extended table need additional support in the middle?

No. The two conical base supports and the 107.5kg construction provide sufficient structural integrity across the full 4-metre span without requiring a centre leg. This leaves legroom clear along the entire length when the table is extended.

Is the marble real stone?

No. The top is MDF with a high-gloss black marble-pattern laminate surface protected by a melamine layer. This gives the visual effect of polished marble without the weight, porosity or maintenance requirements of natural stone.

How is the table cleaned?

The melamine surface can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and mild detergent. For tougher marks, a non-abrasive cream cleaner is suitable. Avoid scouring pads, bleach-based sprays or acetone-based solvents, which can dull the high-gloss finish over time.
