Description

The Canterbury is a 215mm wide outdoor chain pendant lantern with a black die-cast aluminium frame, pyramidal roof and clear glass panels divided by window bars. The lantern hangs from a forged chain with a decorative ring link, designed for installation under covered porches, canopies and entrance archways where weather exposure is limited. The IP43 rating protects against rain splashes from angles up to 60 degrees from vertical, but the fitting is not suitable for fully exposed positions.

The pendant takes a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately) and the clear glass panels allow light to project downward and outward through the four faces. The drop is adjustable on installation between 414mm and 895mm minimum to maximum, making it suitable for standard porch ceiling heights of 2.2-2.7m. The chain is cut to length during fitting and the excess can be stored inside the ceiling canopy. The die-cast aluminium construction resists corrosion in coastal and high-humidity environments better than pressed steel.

The black powder-coated finish provides a matt surface that suits traditional rendered facades, painted masonry and timber-clad porches. The window bar detail across each glass panel references Victorian and Edwardian street lanterns, giving the fitting a period appearance that pairs with cottage, townhouse and country house architecture. The 215mm width and 300mm height keep the visual scale in proportion to typical residential door widths of 750-900mm.

What bulb does it take?

The lantern takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to match the traditional aesthetic.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The chain is cut to the required length during installation, so the drop cannot be easily adjusted once fitted. The 490mm chain length allows drops between 414mm and 895mm depending on how much chain is used.

Is the black finish powder-coated?

Yes. The die-cast aluminium frame is powder-coated in black, which provides a durable matt finish that resists flaking and corrosion in outdoor environments. The 5-year warranty covers the finish and construction.
