Description
The Blues is a 110x145cm abstract acrylic painting built from layered brushwork in teal, sage green, charcoal grey and soft white tones on a stretched canvas. The hand-painted surface shows multiple passes of semi-transparent acrylic washes overlaid with heavier gestural strokes, creating depth through both colour and texture. The 3.5cm depth gives the piece a substantial physical presence on the wall without requiring a separate frame.
Designed for contemporary, Japandi and Scandi-minimal interiors, the painting functions as a focal point above a sofa, console or sideboard in living rooms and hallways, or as a headboard alternative in bedrooms with 2.6m+ ceiling heights. The cool teal and grey palette pairs with natural oak, walnut, linen and concrete finishes, while the layered brushwork adds movement and visual interest to otherwise pared-back spaces. The matte acrylic finish absorbs rather than reflects light, preventing glare in rooms with large windows or strong artificial lighting.
The painting arrives ready to hang with a rear hanging system. At 3.2kg the canvas is light enough for standard picture hooks on plasterboard walls with appropriate fixings. The tonal variation across the 145cm height means the piece reads differently depending on eye level — from a seated position the darker lower section anchors the composition, while standing viewers see more of the lighter teal and grey washes in the upper half.
Schuller produces the Blues as part of a curated abstract collection manufactured in Spain. Each canvas is hand-painted, so brush placement, tonal density and layering vary slightly between individual pieces. The acrylic medium is stable and colourfast under normal indoor conditions, but avoid hanging in direct sunlight or high-humidity environments like bathrooms.

Frequently Asked
Does it come framed?
No. The canvas is stretched over a wooden frame with 3.5cm depth, designed to hang unframed as a gallery-wrapped piece. The painted surface continues around the edges of the frame, so no separate framing is needed.
How is it mounted to the wall?
The canvas has a rear hanging system fitted. At 3.2kg it can be hung on standard picture hooks or wall plugs. For plasterboard walls use appropriate fixings rated for the weight.
Is each painting identical?
No. Each canvas is hand-painted, so brush placement, layering and tonal density vary between pieces. The overall colour palette and composition remain consistent, but minor differences are a feature of the hand-painted production method.
Can it be hung in a bathroom?
Acrylic on canvas is not recommended for high-humidity environments like bathrooms or wet rooms. Moisture can warp the canvas and degrade the acrylic over time. The painting is designed for living rooms, bedrooms and hallways with standard indoor humidity levels.
