Description

The Knightsbridge BL5BLG is a surface-mount LED brick light delivering blue accent lighting from a grey polycarbonate housing rated IP65 for outdoor use. The integrated 5W SMD LED sits behind an opal diffuser, casting 65 lumens of blue light through the 235mm-wide aperture. The fitting comes with three interchangeable face accessories: a grill for striped light distribution, a louvre for reduced glare, and a plain shade for diffused wash.

Designed for path lighting, garden step marking, driveway edging and feature wall accents, the brick light surface-mounts directly to exterior walls or paving without requiring a recessed cavity. The slim 32mm projection keeps the fitting close to the mounting surface, reducing trip hazards and giving a similar visual effect to recessed brick lights while avoiding the cutting and core-drilling work. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making the fitting suitable for exposed exterior positions.

The grey polycarbonate construction resists UV degradation and impact better than ABS housings typically used in budget path lights. The Class II double-insulated design eliminates the need for an earth connection, simplifying wiring on older properties or garden walls without existing earth provision. The constant-current driver runs directly from 230V mains without requiring a separate transformer. A retrofit kit is available separately to convert the surface-mount fitting into a recessed brick light if cavity installation becomes possible later.

The blue LED output creates decorative accent lighting rather than functional task light — the 65-lumen output and blue spectrum are intended for ambience and wayfinding rather than illuminating work areas. The non-dimmable driver maintains consistent light levels when paired with standard switching.

Is this suitable for outdoor use in all weather?

Yes. The IP65 rating protects the internal electronics against dust and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making the fitting suitable for exterior walls, garden steps, driveways and other exposed positions. Avoid submerging the fitting or positioning it where standing water can collect around the base.

Does it need to be recessed into the wall?

No. This is a surface-mount brick light that fixes directly to the wall or paving surface without requiring a recessed cavity. The 32mm projection gives a similar visual effect to recessed brick lights while avoiding cutting work. A separate retrofit kit is available if you later want to convert it to recessed installation.

What are the three accessories used for?

The grill creates striped light distribution across the illuminated surface, the louvre reduces glare by directing light downward, and the plain shade provides diffused wash lighting. All three clip onto the same fitting, allowing you to change the light pattern without rewiring.

Can the LED be replaced?

The LED is integrated into the fitting and cannot be replaced separately. The constant-current driver and SMD LED module are rated for the 3-year warranty period.
