Description

These are four handpainted stoneware bowls in cream, sold together as a set of four. Each one is 11.5cm across and 6.5cm tall and holds 325ml, which makes it a small bowl: the right size for a portion of berries, a scoop of sorbet, yoghurt with fruit or a side of rice, rather than a deep soup bowl. Around the outside runs a loose botanical motif of leafy swirls and a round seed head, while the inside is left plain under a smooth glaze and a fine line of glaze picks out the rim. Each bowl stands on a small foot that lifts it neatly from the table.

Because they are made for food and can go in the microwave, they suit everyday breakfasts and quick desserts as well as a laid table for guests. Set them out for a weekend brunch with fruit and granola, fill them with olives, nuts or dips when friends visit, or serve a pudding at the end of supper. The size also makes them handy while cooking, holding chopped herbs or a whisked egg within easy reach of the hob.
