Description

The Bern is a compact outdoor spike light built around a white aluminium cylinder housing an integrated 5W LED at 3000K. The spike mount adjusts between 8.8cm and 15.9cm height, allowing the light to be set low for path edge-lighting or raised higher to illuminate border planting or low shrubs. The IP65-rated body protects the LED against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making it suitable for year-round garden installation.

Designed for borders, pathways, driveways and terrace edges, the Bern fits small to medium gardens where discrete accent lighting is needed without the infrastructure of mains wiring runs or surface conduit. The spike pushes into soil or turf, with the adjustable height letting you compensate for uneven ground or raise the beam above low ground-cover planting. The light operates on 110-240V AC, requiring a qualified outdoor electrical installation with appropriate IP-rated cable glands and junction boxes.

The white powder-coated aluminium resists corrosion in damp climates and blends into white-rendered walls, light-coloured gravel and coastal planting schemes where darker finishes would stand out. The glass diffuser at the head spreads the 3000K output into a soft wash rather than a focused beam, minimising glare when the fitting is viewed from ground level or adjacent windows. The Bern requires mains 110-240V AC supply routed to an outdoor-rated junction box or weatherproof connector near the spike location. The spike then pushes into soil or turf. This is a fixed-wiring installation requiring a qualified electrician and compliance with Part P Building Regulations.

Can the height be adjusted after installation?

Yes. The spike telescopes between 8.8cm and 15.9cm, allowing the light head to be raised or lowered to suit ground-cover height or to compensate for uneven terrain. Adjustment is typically set during installation and left in position.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The 5W LED is integrated into the fitting and is not user-replaceable. The LED is rated for approximately 25,000 hours of operation, which equates to roughly 8-10 years at typical outdoor usage (3-4 hours per evening).
