Description

Berlin is a floor lamp in antique brass. A wide white pleated shade, conical and open at the bottom, carried on the bent-over top of a slim antique brass stem so it hangs forward of the base. The pleats are fine and regular and run from a small gathered crown right out to the rim, and the fabric is thin enough to glow through as well as throw light down. A plain turned joint breaks the stem partway up where the upper section slides to set the height. The brass is a soft aged gold and rises from a shallow domed brass base with a wide flat foot. Nothing else interrupts the line.

It stands beside a chair or at the end of a sofa, where it puts one pool of light exactly where it is needed without lighting the whole space. That is what a floor lamp is for: it takes the reading light off the ceiling and puts it at shoulder height, so the room can be lit softly and still be worked in.

The holder is E27 and takes up to 40W. It is rated IP20, for dry indoor rooms.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, on a compatible dimmer, provided the lamp you fit is a dimmable one. The fitting has no dimmer of its own.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is IP20, which covers dry interior rooms only. A bathroom needs IP44 or better.
