Description

The Bayview is a single-light outdoor chain pendant built around a four-sided aluminium lantern frame finished in black, with clear bevelled glass panels on each face. The lantern hangs on an adjustable chain from a matching black canopy and houses a single E27 bulb fitting behind the glass. The IP44 rating protects the internal components against rain splashes and moisture, making it suitable for covered outdoor positions such as front porches, loggia ceilings and sheltered patio overhangs.

Designed for Georgian and classical exterior settings, the Bayview works where traditional coach-lantern styling is needed without excessive scale. The lantern body measures approximately 200mm square and sits at a height suited to 2.4-2.7m ceilings typical of front porch entries and veranda spaces. The chain is adjustable on installation, allowing the pendant to be set 500-800mm below the ceiling depending on the specific porch height and desired visual proportion. The bevelled glass panels direct light outward and downward onto steps, doorways and entrance areas.

The aluminium construction resists corrosion in coastal and damp climates without the weight penalty of cast iron or brass. The black powder-coat finish provides UV resistance and pairs cleanly with black guttering, downpipes and window frames common on period properties. The four glass panels are individually replaceable if damaged. The E27 fitting accepts standard LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W, giving flexibility to match the colour temperature and brightness to the architectural context.

Can this be used in fully exposed outdoor positions?

The IP44 rating protects against rain splashes and moisture but not direct water jets or submersion. The Bayview is designed for covered outdoor positions such as front porches, veranda ceilings and loggia areas where the lantern is sheltered from driving rain. Fully exposed positions benefit from an IP65-rated fitting.

What bulb is recommended?

The E27 fitting accepts any standard Edison screw bulb up to 60W. Most installations use a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to match the Georgian styling. Clear or amber glass filament bulbs show well through the bevelled panels.

How is the chain length adjusted?

The chain is looped through the canopy on installation and can be shortened by removing links before the pendant is wired. Once installed, further adjustment requires the pendant to be taken down and re-hung with a different number of links.

Is the glass bevelled on all four sides?

Yes. Each of the four glass panels is bevelled around the edges, which refracts light slightly and gives the lantern a more detailed appearance than plain flat glass.
