Description

The Bayview is a 393mm-high pedestal lantern in black aluminium with a Georgian-inspired lantern head, clear bevelled glass panels and a square pedestal base. The lantern houses a single E27 bulb fitting (bulb sold separately, up to 60W) behind four bevelled glass panes set within a moulded aluminium frame topped with a classical domed finial.

Designed for mounting on gate posts, porch plinths, driveway pillars and low garden walls, the pedestal base measures 180mm square and fixes to horizontal surfaces via pre-drilled holes in the underside. The IP44 rating protects against dust ingress and water splashes from any direction, making the lantern suitable for year-round outdoor installation in UK weather. The bevelled glass refracts light into crisp patterns across pathways and entrance steps when a clear filament or LED bulb is fitted.

The black finish is a powder-coated aluminium that resists corrosion better than traditional cast iron while maintaining the visual weight of Georgian and Victorian street lantern designs. The bevelled edge on each glass panel catches daylight and lamplight differently depending on viewing angle, adding decorative detail even when the lantern is switched off. At 393mm overall height, the Bayview sits proportionally on gate posts of 1000-1200mm height without overwhelming narrower pillar caps.

What bulb does the Bayview take?

The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to replicate the appearance of a gas lantern.

Can it be used in exposed coastal or high-rain areas?

The IP44 rating protects against splashing water from any direction and dust ingress, making it suitable for most UK outdoor locations including coastal areas. However, the lantern is not submersible and should not be installed where it will be directly submerged or subject to high-pressure water jets.

How is the lantern mounted?

The 180mm square pedestal base has pre-drilled fixing holes in the underside for bolting to horizontal surfaces such as gate posts, porch plinths, pillar caps or low walls. The electrical cable feeds through a central knockout in the base before connection to outdoor-rated wiring.
