Baymont E27 Diffuser Semi Flush 40cm Nude Beige - Satin Nickel

This is a shallow-hanging ceiling light that pairs a 40cm dual faux silk drum shade with a satin nickel fitting. The shade is nude beige on the outside with a moonlight lining, so the light picks up a softer, warmer tone as it passes through. Underneath sits a frosted acrylic diffuser ringed in satin nickel, which spreads the downward light and keeps the lamp from view when you look up from a sofa or a bed.

Because it holds close to the ceiling rather than dropping on a rod or flex, it suits rooms where headroom is tight: bedrooms, landings, box rooms and hallways where a pendant would be in the way. It takes one E27 lamp up to 20W and we would put an LED GLS in it, which keeps running costs sensible for a light that tends to stay on all evening. It can be dimmed if you pair the right lamp with a compatible dimmer, and we are glad to talk that combination through if you are unsure. Lamps and dimmers are bought separately.

The fitting is finished in satin nickel, a soft brushed silver that reads quieter than chrome and sits well against warm neutrals and pale wood. Keep the faux silk fresh by brushing it lightly with an upholstery attachment or a clean soft brush, and lift fingermarks from the acrylic and the metalwork with a barely damp cloth, nothing abrasive and no sprays. It carries a one year warranty. How far does it hang below the ceiling?

The fitting body measures 180mm in height, so it sits close to the ceiling and works comfortably in rooms where a pendant would feel too low.

What lamp should I fit?

One E27 lamp rated up to 20W. An LED GLS A60 is the shape we would choose, as it sits neatly within the shade.

Is it dimmable?

Yes, provided you use a dimmable lamp with a dimmer switch suited to it. No dimmer is supplied with the light.

How wide is the shade?
