Description

A broad drum shade in dual faux silk sits under a satin nickel ceiling plate, with a frosted acrylic diffuser closing the underside so the light spreads downward without a bare lamp in view. The outer face is midnight black; the lining is green olive, which warms the light as it passes through. At 60cm across and 22cm deep, the shade has real presence overhead while still sitting close to the ceiling in the semi flush manner.

We would put this in a wide hallway, over a dining table in a room with a lower ceiling, or in a main bedroom where a pendant would hang in the way. It is one we reach for when ceiling height rules out a drop but the room still wants some scale. It takes an E27 lamp of up to 20W, and we would fit an LED GLS in warm white. With a compatible lamp and dimmer it will dim, so it serves evening light as well as everyday.

The frame is finished in satin nickel, the shade is dual faux silk and the diffuser is acrylic. Keep the fabric fresh with a soft brush or the upholstery head of a vacuum on its lowest setting, and wipe the acrylic with a lightly dampened cloth once the power is off and the lamp cold. Dry indoor rooms suit it; leave bathrooms and porches to fittings sealed for the job. It carries a one year warranty. If you would rather dress your own shade, the range also runs to compact universal semi flush fixtures in polished chrome, antique brass and satin black. Lamps are not included.
