Description

Broad and shallow, this sits close to the ceiling on a polished chrome frame, with a dual faux silk drum shade in antique gold lined in ruby. The shade measures 50cm across, so it reads as a wide, calm disc rather than something that draws the eye upward. A frosted acrylic diffuser with a polished chrome detail closes the underside, softening the light and keeping the lamp itself out of view.

It suits rooms where a pendant would hang too low: hallways and landings, a bedroom under a modest ceiling, or a dining room where you want light spread across the space rather than pooled over the table. A single E27 lamp does the work, up to 20W, and we would fit a warm LED GLS to bring out the gold and the ruby lining. It is dimmable with a suitable lamp and dimmer, which is worth arranging in a bedroom or a sitting room. It is one of the fittings we point people towards when they want the presence of a fabric shade without the drop of a pendant.

The metalwork carries a polished chrome finish, picked up again in the chrome detail at the diffuser, and the faux silk gives a warmth that plain glass would not. Dust the fabric with a soft brush or a vacuum upholstery tool, and wipe the acrylic with a barely damp cloth, drying it afterwards; leave solvents and sprays well away from both. It carries a one year warranty. Can I dim it?
