Description

A black faux silk drum sits close to the ceiling on a polished chrome frame, and the shade is lined in white laminate so light is thrown back down rather than soaked up. Underneath, a frosted acrylic diffuser with a polished chrome rim closes the base, hiding the lamp and softening what falls into the room. At 40cm across the drum has real presence overhead without dropping far, and it takes one E27 lamp.

This is the fitting we suggest for rooms where a pendant would hang too low: hallways and landings, bedrooms, a study, or a small dining room where the table is already lit from elsewhere. The closed, diffused underside means it can be looked at directly, which helps where a bed or a sofa faces the ceiling. Lamps up to 20W suit it, and we would choose a GLS LED shape for an even, warm fill. With a compatible lamp and a separate dimmer, the level can be brought down for the evening.

The frame is metal in a polished chrome finish, the shade is fabric with the pale laminate lining showing on the inside face, and the diffuser is acrylic rather than glass, which keeps the whole thing light. Dust the fabric with a soft brush or a lint roller, and wipe the acrylic with a barely damp cloth once the power is off and the lamp has gone cold. It carries a one year warranty. The wider range runs to shade-ready frames in antique brass and satin nickel, plus linear pendants for over a table, so one look can be carried through several rooms. Lamps are not included.

One E27 lamp, with 20W as the maximum. A GLS A60 LED is the shape we would put in it, and it is not supplied with the fitting.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, provided you use a dimmable lamp with a compatible dimmer. No dimmer is supplied.

How far does it hang below the ceiling?

The overall drop is 380mm, with the shade and diffuser body accounting for 180mm of that.

What is the shade made of?

How do I clean the shade?
