Description

A broad drum of dual faux silk sits close to the ceiling here, nude beige on the outside with a moonlight lining that softens the light as it passes through. At 60cm across it reads as a calm circle rather than a fussy shape, and the frosted acrylic diffuser beneath closes the underside so the lamp is not seen from below. Polished chrome on the fitting and on the diffuser trim keeps a bright edge against the fabric.

We reach for this where a pendant would hang too low: a hallway with an ordinary ceiling, a bedroom above the bed, or a landing that needs even light without anything to duck around. It suits rooms where the height rules out a drop but you still want the presence of a large shade. It takes one E27 lamp, and an LED GLS is what we would put in it. Dimming is possible if you pair a dimmable lamp with a compatible dimmer, neither of which comes with the light.

The shade is dual faux silk, beige facing the room and moonlight within, and the acrylic diffuser is frosted with a polished chrome surround, so the underside stays soft and quiet when lit. Chrome takes fingermarks, so a dry cloth now and then is enough; the fabric prefers a soft brush or the upholstery head of a vacuum on its lowest setting, and both are jobs for a cold, switched off fitting.
