Description

A broad drum shade in dual faux silk sits close under the ceiling here, midnight black on the outside with a green olive lining. At 60cm across it reads wide rather than deep, so the proportion stays calm in a room of ordinary height. Beneath the shade, a frosted acrylic diffuser trimmed in antique brass closes the underside and softens the light on its way down. The metalwork is finished in antique brass, and the E27 lampholder takes a lamp of up to 20W.

We would put this in a hallway, on a landing, or in a bedroom where a pendant would hang into the way, and it works just as well over a round dining table in a low cottage room. The width gives it presence without any real drop, so heads and doors stay clear. It will dim if you pair it with a suitable lamp and a compatible dimmer, though neither of those comes with it, and we are glad to talk the combination through. It suits anyone after a dark, warm-toned fitting rather than a bright metal one.
