Description

The shade is the point of this one: a broad drum of faux silk in raw cocoa, lined in Grecian bronze so the light takes on a warmer note as it falls. At 40cm across, the fabric has enough width to read as a proper shade rather than a cap, while the body itself stays tight to the ceiling on an antique brass frame. The E27 lampholder sits inside, hidden by the shade.

We reach for a semi flush like this where a pendant would hang too low: hallways and landings, bedrooms under a modest ceiling, a small dining room where headroom is tight. It suits rooms where you want a little fabric warmth overhead rather than glass or bare metal. It takes an E27 lamp up to 20W, and an LED in the classic pear shape is what we would fit. With a suitable LED and a matching dimmer it will dim, though neither the lamp nor the dimmer is supplied.

Construction is plain and honest: a metal frame finished in antique brass, with the slightly softened, aged tone that name suggests, and a dual faux silk shade with the cocoa outer and the bronze lining laid up together.
